Founded in Frederick, 2017

It started with one truck and a plain idea

Michael Davis is a long-time Maryland resident who spent years watching friends and neighbors in the Frederick area struggle to find a dumpster company that would just answer the phone, quote a straight price, and show up when they said they would. Renovation projects would stall for two days waiting on a container. Quotes given over email would turn into a different number once the invoice landed. Somebody would call three companies before one called back.

That gap is what started LWB. In 2017, Michael bought one used roll-off truck and a handful of containers and set out to run the business the way it should have been run from the start: pick up the phone, tell the truth about the price, protect the property, and turn up when promised.

What we look like now

The fleet has grown, but not so much that we became the thing we were trying to fix. We run a small number of trucks out of the yard on 450 E South St, keep 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 yard containers on the ground, and cover Frederick, the rest of Frederick County and the towns spilling toward Carroll County.

Every driver who works here has done manual trade work, which matters more than it sounds. They know why you want the door facing the garage rather than the street. They know that a container set eight inches too far forward means you cannot get the truck out of the drive. They know when the ground on a rural lane out past Woodsboro is going to hold a loaded truck after a wet week and when it absolutely will not.

Our promise, in one line: the price we quote on the phone is the price on the invoice, and if we ever get that wrong, we eat the difference — not you.

Why we care about where it ends up

Hauling waste for a living gives you a fairly direct relationship with the consequences. We live here. So we take Maryland's waste rules seriously rather than treating them as paperwork, we sort out clean wood, metal, cardboard and clean concrete where the volume justifies it, and we would rather spend five minutes on the phone telling you where to take an old CRT television than quietly bury it.

If you want the detail on that, the Maryland Department of the Environment publishes guidance on recycling and waste handling statewide. Our own plain-English version is in this guide.

In the community

We put containers on the ground at no charge for a handful of local clean-up efforts each year — church and school grounds work, and after the kind of storms that leave half of Frederick County dragging brush to the curb. It is not a marketing programme, and we do not make much noise about it. If you are organising something along those lines, call and ask.

Experience, plainly stated

  • Founded in Frederick in 2017 and independently owned ever since — no franchise, no private equity.
  • Fully licensed and insured to haul in Maryland; certificates available on request for commercial and municipal clients.
  • Proudly serving hundreds of families, property managers, contractors and small businesses across Frederick County.
  • Standing container programmes with local roofers, remodellers, property managers and estate attorneys.
  • An average rating of 4.9 from 168 reviews.

Our team

The people who show up

Small crew, real names

Samantha Lee runs operations and scheduling, which is why the truck that says it will be there by ten usually is. Carlos Ramirez is our lead driver and has set more containers on more Frederick County driveways than anyone else on the team. Emily Johnson handles customer care — she is often the voice on the phone when you call. Jason Miller is our sustainability and compliance officer, and keeps us square with Maryland's waste rules and the local recycling partners we work with.

It also means the answer to "can you get a 30 yard down my alley near Carroll Creek?" is a real answer from someone who has tried it, rather than a guess from a dispatcher in another state.

What you can expect on delivery day

  • A call or text ahead so you are not waiting around all day.
  • Boards laid under the rails before the container touches your surface.
  • Placement confirmed with you before it is set down, not after.
  • A quick, honest rundown of what can and cannot go in.
  • The site left clean on pickup — we sweep up what falls.

Reviews

What customers tell us

  • Old plaster and lath is brutally heavy and I nearly ordered the wrong size. They talked me into a 15 yard instead of the 30 I asked for and were dead right. Saved me money by selling me less. Not many companies do that.

    Brett H.Middletown — Basement Demolition

  • We had two old sheds full of forty years of junk out on a gravel lane. Truck got in, got out, no ruts, no drama. They came back for a second load the same week when the ground was still soft from spring rain and everybody else was booked out.

Sam O.Woodsboro — Farm Outbuilding Clearout

  • I manage a few rentals near Fort Detrick and PCS season is chaos. Standing order every summer, containers show up when they say, invoices are clean and flat rate so I can budget it. Zero surprise weight charges in three years.

Answers

About LWB — common questions

Is LWB actually based in Frederick?

Yes. Our yard and containers are at 450 E South St, Frederick, MD 21701, and the trucks go out from there every morning. We are not a national booking site reselling your job to whichever hauler bids lowest — when you call (240) 549-6718 you reach the people who own the trucks.

How long have you been in business?

Since 2017. Michael started with one used roll-off truck and a handful of containers after seeing how badly the local market needed a hauler who would just answer the phone, and the company has grown steadily but deliberately since — enough trucks to be reliable, few enough that you still get a person who knows your job.

Are you licensed and insured?

Fully licensed to haul in Maryland and carrying general liability and auto coverage appropriate to commercial hauling. We are happy to send a certificate of insurance to general contractors, property managers and municipalities before a job starts — just ask when you book.

Do you work with contractors on ongoing jobs?

Constantly. Roofers, remodellers, restoration companies and property managers make up a large share of our week. We run standing swap-out schedules, priority call windows during peak season, consolidated monthly invoicing and negotiated rates on volume. Call and ask for the commercial side.

What happens to the material after pickup?

It is weighed, then sorted where the load makes sorting worthwhile — clean wood, scrap metal, cardboard and clean concrete get diverted rather than landfilled. Everything else goes to a permitted disposal facility. Materials restricted from ordinary Maryland landfill disposal are separated out and routed to the right recycler.
